作者简介迈克尔·克莱顿（Michael Crichton）,1942年10月42日出生于美国伊利诺伊州的芝加哥。他先后在哈佛大学文系就读，后转读考古人类学系，比毕业后进入医学院继续深造，并于1969年获得哈佛大学医学硕士学位。克莱顿迄今共创作了14部小说，全球总销量已经超过1亿册，并被翻译成30多种文字广泛发行，其中有13部拍摄成电影。在影视伯摄方面，克莱顿也取得了优异的成绩，他所拍摄的影片《急诊室的春天》是美国的高收率剧目。克莱顿还组建了FilmTrack电影软件公司，他所执导的《西方世界》就是世界上首部应用电脑特效的电影。他曾获得过艾米奖、美国广播电视文化成就奖、美国作家协会奖等多项荣誉，1992年的《人物》杂志更将他评为全球50位最高雅人士之一。
