芭芭拉·帕赫蒂，著名晤言学家，美国马萨诸塞大学阿默斯特分校语言学及哲学系荣体教授。曾任美国语言学会会长。主要著作除本书外。还有《形式语卫学中的组台性：帕赫蒂文选》、《蒙太古语法》《蒙太古语法和转换语法》等近二十部。爱丽丝·特缪伦著名数理语占学家，曾任职德国普朗克研究所。并先后任救于荷兰格罗宁根大学，美国华盛顿大学，印第安那大学。目前是瑞士日内瓦大学教授。出版或编辑过九部专著和文集，其中除本书外．她与边沁合编的《逻辑和语言手册》一书在国际语言学界享有盛誉。罗伯特沃尔，著名计算语言学家、数理语言学家。
