作者简介苏•汤普金斯（Sue Tompkins），英国目前最资深的占星学家和咨询师之一，曾任The Faculty of Astrological Studies学院院长，又于2000年创立伦敦占星学院（London School of Astrology）这所声誉卓著的专业学府，并经常在英国、法国、挪威、瑞典、澳大利亚等地举办占星研讨会和公开演讲。
本书与作者另一部经典著作《当代占星研究》均引起广大反响，为作者确立了占星大师的地位。2003年，为表彰其卓越贡献，英国占星协会为苏•汤普金斯授予查尔斯•哈维终身成就奖（Charles Harvey Award）。
