作者简介乔治·佩雷克，1936年3月7日出生在法国巴黎第20区维兰街24号，父母都是刚到法国不久的波兰犹太人移民。1940年6月父亲战死。1943年2月，30岁的母亲被关进集中营，从此杳无音讯。20岁时，他自信必将成为小说家，1965年29岁时出版第一部小说《物》，随即斩获勒诺多文学奖，从此以大约每年出版一部作品的速度写作，直至1982年去世。在人生最后的十五年中，他是奇特文学团体“乌力波”（Oulipo）的核心成员，这个“潜在文学工场”向作家们提出了各种挑战：S-7写作法、漏字文、离合诗、回文、置换、异位构词法及其它大量“限制性写作”。佩雷克曾写过一本没有使用字母“e”的小说，接着又写了一本元音字母只使用“e”的小说与之对应。这类文字能力似乎是他的天性。他的悲剧性家史使得他在以个人化的方式表达着某种难以表达，甚至是不可表达的情感。佩雷克从不告诉读者什么是好...
