Her reaction to the crisis humiliates her husband and outrages the British community, breeding a scandal that lives in collective memory long after her death.
作者简介露丝•普拉瓦尔•杰哈布瓦拉Ruth Prawer Jhabvala
英国女小说家，好莱坞著名编剧，1927年生于德国科隆一个波兰侨民家庭，12岁时移居英国，先后毕业于玛丽女王学院和伦敦大学，1948年加入英国国籍，1951年迁居印度，1975年移居美国纽约，其丈夫是印度建筑师C•S•H•杰哈布瓦拉。
由其任编剧的《看得见风景的房间》和《霍华兹别墅》，双双获得奥斯卡金像奖，另著有《她愿跟从谁》、《激情的本质》、《户主》、《穷乡僻壤》等，其中《热与尘》荣获布克奖。
