作者简介苏珊娜•克拉克（Susanna Clarke）
1959年生于英国诺丁汉市一位循道宗牧师家中，是家中长女。她的童年居无定所，在英格兰北部及苏格兰的一些城镇都生活过。从牛津大学圣希尔达学院毕业后，她曾投身出版，在非虚构图书领域从事过多方面的工作。1990年，她离开伦敦，赴 意大利都灵为菲亚特汽车公司高管教授英语，次年又赴西班牙毕尔巴鄂执教。
